Surviving Domestic Violence in the Midwest United States: South Asian Women

Dear community members and friends,
I am reaching out to you today to let you know about my research project, with the aim of creating better domestic violence services for the South Asian (Bengali, Indian, Pakistani) community in the United States. South Asian women in the United States (US) are at increased risk for experiencing domestic violence and services for this community are few. There is also scarce information in academic scholarship as well. The current study hopes to fill those gaps.
Specifically, I am interested in learning from the experiences of South Asian women survivors of domestic abuse, currently residing in the Midwest United States (For this study: Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota). We are inviting survivors to complete individual online survey interviews through the Qualtrics online research platform, by clicking the link below.
Participation will be completely anonymous, and confidentiality will be protected for participants to the fullest extent allowable by law. After demonstrating your consent and eligibility in the provided link, you will be routed to respond to a short set of questions, where you may respond in an essay format.
To qualify for this study, participants must:
1.) identify as South Asian women survivors of domestic abuse
2.) currently reside in the Midwest states mentioned above,
3.) be 18 years of age or older
4.) be currently safe from ongoing and active violence.
We will not be including those who are experiencing current or active harm, in order to maintain safety. If you are currently experiencing domestic violence, and would like services, please contact support services as soon as you are able.
To demonstrate our appreciation, we will provide a 20 dollar Amazon gift card for your participation at the end of the interview. You may also choose to decline this offer.
