Dear Sociology Students:
Dr. Marte, the Sociology Club Advisor, is now reviewing requests for membership to our International Sociological Honor Society, Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD). For more information on the benefits of AKD, please see the attached form.To become a member of AKD, you must:
a) Show a strong interest in Sociology by having completed at least four (4) courses in Sociology at UMKC,
b) Have earned a GPA of 3.0 in your Sociology courses at UMKC
c) Have earned a cumulative/overall GPA of 3.3
If you believe you meet these requirements:
1) you can check by running a DARS report and e-mailing a copy of your DARS to Dr. Marte (marter@umkc.edu), the Sociology Club Faculty Advisor. For information on what is a DARS report and how to print one, you can visit the following link: http://www.umkc.edu/registrar/majors-degrees/dars.asp.
2) After Dr. Marte confirms that you qualify for AKD honors via e-mail, you can go ahead and complete the attached application, and provide him with a check or money order for $40.00 by Friday, 9/4 at 4:00 PM. You can also stop by our Sociology Main Office in Haag 208 and drop off a check and application with the Sociology Office Administrative Assistant, Rita Hayes. Your check or money order should be made out to “Sociology Club, UMKC” and “AKD” on the memo section. The check is for a one-time fee that covers the cost of processing your induction as a life-time member of AKD and your AKD Member Certificate.
