Jerry Richardson awarded 2011 NHI Instructor of Excellence Award

Professor Jerry Richardson received the Instructor of Excellence Award for 2011 from the National Highway Institute (NHI) for the THIRD consecutive year. The award is based on consistently high evaluation scores in the classroom (4.5 or above on a 5-point scale), a demonstrated commitment to the adult learning philosophy and for maintaining the highest standard of quality for transportation training. Only the top trainers receive this award each year. 2011 was a phenomenal year as 66 trainers (out of over 300 trainers) nationwide received this award in 2011with 300-400 different classes offered. Dr. Richardson is a certified instructor for NHI courses regarding river engineering, hydraulics and scour.

Jerry Richardson awarded 2010 NHI Instructor of Excellence Award

SCE Professor Jerry Richardson received the Instructor of Excellence Award for 2010 from the National Highway Institute (NHI) for the second consecutive year. The award is based on consistently high evaluation scores in the classroom, a demonstrated commitment to the adult learning philosophy and for maintaining the highest standard of quality for transportation training. Only 15 instructors nationwide received this award in 2010 with 300-400 different classes offered. Dr. Richardson is a certified instructor for NHI courses regarding river engineering, hydraulics and scour. He taught 5 classes in 2010.

Professor Jerry Richardson earns NHI’s 2009 Instructor of Excellence Award

Dr. Jerry Richardson, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at UMKC’s School of Computing and Engineering, has been recognized as a 2009 Instructor of Excellence by the the U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Institute (NHI) .  The award reflects the high quality or instruction the 156 participants in Dr. Richardson’s NHI training classes on bridge scour and stream stability indicated they received.  Dr. Richardson’s consistent “excellence in training administration and instructor competence” meritied  the NHI’s recognition of his exemplary service.  Criteria for this award includes:

  • achieving consistently an instructor satisfaction ranking of 4.5 average or above
  • nomination by the Training Program Manager and Instructor Advisory Committee
  • having achieved or in the process of achieving NHI Certification; and
  • attending and passing the NHI Instructor Development Course (IDC).

We congratulate Dr. Jerry Richardson on his success and selection for this award.
