Our UMKC SAE Baja Racing Team partnered with the Mid-America Packards to host a gala fundraiser on Oct. 26 at the exclusive, privately owned Armacost museum which features a rare collection of antique and vintage vehicles. Attended by over 150 guests, the Armacost Gala and Dinner featured Dr. Steve Christy, National President of the Packard Club, as a speaker. All funds, materials and in-kind donations raised will go toward helping the rapidly growing SAE Baja Racing Team build an additional competition vehicle, fund travel to one more competition and save some funds towards a travel trailer.
Gearheads never forget their early roots, dark garages filled with tools, parts, exhaust fumes and that dream car they just knew they could restore. So it’s no surprise that fellow motor heads from the Mid-America Packards and our SCE Baja Buggy team enjoy getting together to share ideas about how to “tweak” the Baja so it will “blow the competition’s doors off” at SAE buggy races. The article and pictures on page 4 of the Mid-America’s Packards newsletter, The Data Plate, makes it clear that the team appreciates the mentorship, encouragement and support!
