Associate Professor Reza Derakhshani earns prestigious award for research

SCE Associate Professor Reza Derakhshani has been named a 2014 recipient of the N.T. Veatch Award For Distinguished Research and Creative Activity. The award recognizes distinguished research and other scholarly activities or creative activity accomplished by UMKC faculty.

Reza is the third SCE professor to earn this prestigious award. He joins Professor of Civil Engineering Anil Misra (N.T. Veatch 2005) and Professor of Computer Science Deep Medhi, Ph.D. (N.T. Veatch 2012) in being recognized as an outstanding UMKC researcher.

Dr. Derakhshani received the award at the Celebration of Excellence Faculty and Staff Awards Ceremony held from 3 – 5 p.m. on March 11 in Pierson Auditorium. He was one of two 2014 UMKC recipients for this award which included a monetary component and a commemorative wall plaque.

The award letter noted, “As winner of the N.T. Veatch Award For Distinguished Research and Creative Activity you exemplify the very best of UMKC’s values and will serve as a valued mentor to your colleagues in their quest for professional excellence.”
