The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter at UMKC recently received a letter of honorable mention for the many activities that they organized and attended.
During the 2013 calendar year, the ASCE student chapter helped organize over 16 unique activities, ranging from a charity golf tournament to highway cleanups. In addition, they also held several joint meetings with the local ASCE section and Geotech committee.
The ASCE student chapter at UMKC is composed of 67 students, including President Sean Micheal, Vice-President Paige Norris, Treasurer Marco Toapanta, Secretary Jose Lopez, Historian Joe Keim, and Freshman Representative Tyler Jones.
In addition to professional activities, the ASCE student chapter also sponsors the UMKC Steel Bridge Team, which competes annually in the ASCE-AISC Student Steel Bridge Competition. The UMKC Steel Bridge Team is run by Jade Rodell-Tipton, and Spencer Solon serves as the liaison between the organizations.
