Dr. Praveen Rao Awarded Contract with Headquarters Counseling Center

Dr. Praveen Rao, Associate Professor at the UMKC School of Computing and Engineering, was recently awarded a one-year contract by Headquarters Counseling Center, Inc.

The contract commenced this December with the goal of developing a scalable cloud-based software system to triage mental health patients based on intensive surveys. This is a collaborative work with Drs. Bill Geis and Stanley Edlavitch, professors at the UMKC School of Medicine. Dr. Rao’s graduate students, Anas Katib and Imrul Siddique, will also be involved in this project.

SCE Student Selected for Graduate Student Professional Development Program

SCE student Kaustubh Dhondge was recently selected as a member of the UM System Graduate Student Professional Development Program.

The Graduate Student Professional Development Program is a pilot program for highly motivated graduate students at the doctoral level of study. The program strives to have students gain both knowledge and skills that are important for their professional careers.  To apply for the program, students must submit an application form along with a recommendation from their doctoral adviser.  Each UM System campus chooses only five doctoral students each year to participate in this program.  Additional information about the program can be found on the UMKC School of Graduate Studies website.

Kaustubh Dhondge is an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Telecommunications & Computer Networking and Computer Science student at UMKC studying under Dr. Baek-Young Choi.
