Fluency and Number Talks in Grades K-2
Fluency entails more than just practicing and memorizing math facts. During this workshop we will develop a common understanding of fluency that promotes flexibility, efficiency, and computational accuracy. In addition, we will discuss counting fluency and beginning place value concepts as they relate to K-2 standards. We will also engage in games and routines that emphasize Number Talks and talk about how Number Talks can become part of your daily classroom routine where students share reasoning strategies and build connections between ideas to improve their fluency in a variety of standards.
