Evidence-Based Practices for Students with Severe Behaviors

This workshop focuses on selecting and implementing evidence-based interventions for students with more intensive behavior needs. Participants will review a range of strategies, including antecedent interventions (environmental adjustments), how to teach meaningful replacement behaviors, and altering consequences in the environment that support lasting behavior change. The training also emphasizes aligning interventions to the function of the behavior (sensory, escape, attention, tangible). The goal is to help teams choose supports that match the why behind the behavior, so students experience more consistent, meaningful outcomes.

Kaley Dahlin is KC-RPDC’s Behavior Consultant and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), supporting districts in strengthening behavior systems and staff practices. She brings over 10 years of experience in special education and behavior support, with a focus on helping teams understand the reason behind behavior and implement practical, sustainable strategies in classrooms.
