In over 15 years of implementing tiered interventions in North Kansas City Schools, we have tried countless strategies to improve academic and behavioral outcomes. We’ll review the best and worst of our experiences, along with suggestions to help districts get started with effective system-wide supports, and use the data effectively in the special education referral process.
Participants will be able to: describe strategies to support MTSS implementation at the district level; use screening to select the most effective interventions for students; and identify common barriers to implementation of tiered supports.

Guest Speaker: Pamela August holds a PhD in School Psychology from McGill University, and has served as the Coordinator of School Psychology for North Kansas City Schools since 2014. She provides oversight for special education evaluations and works closely with district leaders to maintain the district’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports. She is always willing to provide training and consultation to districts interested in tiered supports. Dr. August also serves on the board of the Missouri Association of School Psychologists, currently in the role of Conference Chair.
