Dr. R. Kent Yocum joined the RPDC in 2024. He has worked in general education in California at traditional schools and a K-12 Alternative Magnet; in Kansas and Missouri as an instructional coach and innovation specialist, an admin intern and principal in public and charter schools. He also taught in 12 senior high schools in Kochi Prefecture, Japan, accumulating over 30 years of experience in education.
At the KC-RPDC, Kent will support educational professionals in the Kansas City region as the School Improvement Consultant in Special Education. Some of the areas include MAP-A (DLM) assessment training, co-teaching, new Special Education teacher and/or paraprofessional boot camps, crafting standards based IEPs, post-secondary transitions, instructional strategies for the general education classroom and other topics as requested. Training can be designed for district groups, building level teams or any configuration to collaborate with your hard working teams.
