Kat Nicolaus has spent 30 years as a teacher, department leader, small learning community leader, and instructional coach. With experience in classrooms from grades 1 through 12, Kat spent most of her teaching years in high school mathematics. Kat earned her B.A.Ed with an emphasis in music at Concordia University – Chicago, and her Masters and Educational Specialist degrees, both in Curriculum and Instruction, from UMKC. While still teaching, she worked on DESE teams for item writing, content and bias review, and EOC cut-score setting, and has been a leader in curriculum writing and development in several area districts. Kat serves at the Missouri Teacher Development System Specialist for our KC region. She facilitates BTAP A, BTAP B, Teacher Academy, Teacher Academy Graduates and Foundations of Coaching and Mentoring. She is passionate about teacher development and working to help teachers of all grades and subjects grow and strength their skills.
