Phillip Gegen joined the RPDC team in 2023 as a K-12 mathematics consultant with 26 years of experience in math education. He taught for 21 years in the North Kansas City school district and, prior to that, taught 4 years in rural Missouri high schools where he was effectively the math department. Over the years Phil has served on numerous advisory and curriculum writing committees. In addition, he worked as a tennis and cross country coach, and student council advisor, enabling him to serve student needs beyond the math classroom. Prior to teaching, he worked for 10 years in retail and mortgage banking, which only served to fuel his passion for making math accessible to all students as a tool for problem solving and critical thinking.
