Emily Brown currently serves as a K-12 Literacy Consultant and has over 10 years of experience in education. Emily graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary History & Government Education and obtained her Master’s degree in Teacher Leadership from Park University. As an undergraduate, she was offered an opportunity to take additional courses toward her ESOL certification. Emily began her career as a classroom teacher for direct ESL classes at the middle school level in the Kansas City, Kansas School District. While working as an ESL teacher, she was also a member of the building leadership team and was an advocate for evidence-based literacy instruction for all learners. She later transitioned into the role as one of the district’s Secondary ESOL Instructional Coaches where she supported multiple buildings through collaboration with leadership teams and PLCs. Emily is a life-long learner who is passionate about collaborating with other educators and committed to ensuring student and teacher success. In her free time, Emily enjoys reading, crafting, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband and two daughters.
