February is Eating Disorders Awareness month.

What is available on campus for UMKC students struggling with issues related to eating and body image?

  • Students can get free individual counseling at UMKC Counseling Services.
  • Students can have treatment guided by the Eating Disorder treatment team within UMKC’s Counseling Services and Student Health and Wellness Center.
  • Students can utilize the free App, Body U, to receive self-help and guided programs aimed to increase understanding of behaviors and self-image.  Programs include general fitness, health eating, coping skills, techniques to manage depression and anxiety, and ways to positively evaluate self-image.
  • Students can attend events on campus during EveryBody is Beautiful Week.

If you are a staff or faculty member with concerns about your relationship with food or weight, where should you start?

  • Consult with your EAP for an initial visit
    • Staff and faculty have up to 3 free in-person or phone counseling sessions through the UMKC EAP.  Call 816-931-3073 or click here for more information.
  • Consult with your general physician
