Welcome, Roos!  We’ve gathered a list of Welcome Week activities…but this is just the start of a great new semester!

• Aug. 19.
  • Roos Give Back 2017 from 1 to 5 p.m. Volunteers will support clean-up and school prep on the East High School campus. To volunteer, complete the registration form online.
  • Casino Night, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., Pierson Auditorium.
• Aug. 19
  • Honors College Welcome BBQ, Oak Street Residence Hall Courtyard, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
• Aug. 20
  • New Student Convocation, Swinney Recreation Center, 1 to 2 p.m.
  • Union Fest, UMKC Student Union, 2 to 5 p.m.
  • Roos Block Party, Kangaroo Court (located outside of Durwood ticket booth across from Student Union).
  • UMKC Men’s Soccer Game vs. Rockhurst (Exhibition), 5 p.m. at Durwood Soccer Stadium. There will be interactive games, a DJ, Hiland Dairy ice cream, cold brew coffee from The Roasterie, and Sporting KC will offer chances for free tickets to a Sporting game.  Students will also drop off their passports from Union Fest at the game and will be entered into a drawing for prizes that will be given out at halftime.
• Aug. 21
  • Good Morning Roos, (Free Breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m.), Oak Street Resident hall (In front by staircase).
  • Chill Out with the UMKC Women’s Center, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., stop by 105 Haag Hall, 5120 Rockhill Road for a cool drink and cookie and find out why the Women’s Center is a great place to relax, meet friends and get involved.
    • Miller Nichols Library Welcome Table (Volker Campus), 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., library staff will have tables set up both entrances with snacks and information.
    • Miller Nichols Library Welcome Table (Health Sciences and Dental Library), 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., library staff will be available with snacks and information.

  • Big Bingo, UMKC Student Union Theater, 7 p.m. to  9 p.m.

  • Atterbury Student Success Center Welcome Week Open House, 10 a.m. – noon, Atterbury Student Success Center, Second Floor Lobby, all students are welcome and invited to stop by the Atterbury Student Success Center (ASSC) during our open house. Find out more about the offices housed in the ASSC and what they can do for your success at UMKC. While you’re here, enjoy some snacks and make sure you enter the raffle to win a prize.
