The Library is one of the most important resources here on campus for students.   Read on to find out more about how the Library utilizes technology (including the new robot and how to text a librarian) to make your  time more efficient and less stressful–especially when trying to find what you need! 

Miller Nichols Library is bigger and better than it was last year.  As the construction finally begins to come to a close, we can see the result of all that hard work.  The outside of the building looks brand new, and inside houses our very own robot.  It is clearly causing a stir, as our library was recently featured on NBC news!

Another feature of the library that you might not be familiar with is the “Text A Librarian” program.

Text A Librarian  –  Send questions through text messages!   

Who can use this service?

  • It is available to all UMKC students, faculty and staff.

How do I text the library a question?

  • Start your text message with UMKC and send it to 66746.

What kinds of questions should I ask through text?

  • Simple, quick questions.

What kind of response will I get?

  • Answers will be simple and quick.
  • When the library is open, a prompt reply is sent.  
  • When the library is closed, a reply is sent next the next day the library is open.

Text a Librarian is private and secure

  • Your wireless number is kept confidential.
  • Standard wireless provider text rates apply.
