Planning Ahead for the WEPT

The Written English Proficiency Exam, or WEPT, is a requirement of all undergraduates at UMKC. In order to take the WEPT, you must have completed English 225 and 45 credit hours. It must be passed before graduation, but it must also be passed before you will be eligible to enroll in any Writing Intensive courses (also a requirement to graduate). Because this test is a requirement for all undergraduates, you must plan ahead for this test. The next available date to sign up for is June 13, as the April test date is already filled. If you plan to take a Writing Intensive course next fall, register now for the June exam.

To register, go to www.umkc.edu/wept and sign in with your SSO and password. Then, follow the directions to register. Don’t forget to pick up your information packet, as it contains all of the materials you will need to write your essay on test day. For more information, e-mail wept@umkc.edu.
