School of Pharmacy Wins National Community Engagement Award

The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) has selected UMKC School of Pharmacy to receive the 2010-2011 AACP Student Community Engaged Service Award.  AACP, whose mission is work with member schools in advancing pharmacy education, research, scholarship, practice and service to improve societal health.

Dr. Crystal Obering, Clinical Associate Professor, and her students – Jennifer Sass, Ashley Harbison, Jacquelyn Constable, Kristin Ripperger and Eamon Darbandi – were recognized for their contributions to the UMKC Health Sciences Wellness Fair that has occurred during the last two spring semesters on Hospital Hill as a combined effort of the university’s four health sciences schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, and Dentistry).  UMKC was among eight university finalists announced at the AACP Annual Meeting last summer.  Other finalists included:  Rutgers, University of Colorado, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Oklahoma, University of Southern Nevada, University of the Pacific, and the University of Southern California.
