The Union Programming Board (UPB) is part of the Office of Student Involvement that provides free and fun events for the students of UMKC.  UPB has both events on and off campus.  All of UPB’s events on campus will be held in the Student Union.  In an attempt to make the Student Union more vibrant, most events will be held on a consistent basis, such as open mic nights, movie nights, dance lessons, and video game tournaments.

With such a wide range of events, UPB is bound to have something for everyone.  Events that are not on campus are UPB’s Roos in the City trips.  Roos in the City trips are events that allow students to experience some of the great things to do in the Kansas City area.  Every single UPB event is absolutely free!

UPB Unplugged: Open Mic Night.  Come out and show off your talent in UPB’s monthly open mic night.  We will provide a piano, acoustic guitar, and a microphone for anyone who wants to sing, play, or recite poetry.  All artists are welcome to perform, and everyone else is welcome to watch and listen! This event will be from 4-6pm at the coffeehouse stage next to Jazzman’s in the Student Union on Wednesdays, starting tonight, September 4th.

UPB Video Game Tournament: Marvel vs Capcom 3.  Join UPB as we host our first video game tournament of the semester! Students can come and play the popular fighting game Marvel vs Capcom 3.  Free food will be provided and the winner of the tournament will win a prize!  The tournament will be at 7pm in room 419 of the Student Union starting on Friday, September 6th.

UPB Cinema.  Come spend your Monday by enjoying a movie with UPB!  The feature presentation this coming Monday, September 9th, is the classic Disney movie “Toy Story”.  Come relive your childhood with UPB either at 12pm or at 8pm in the Student Union Theater.

UPB Dance Lessons: Belly Dancing.  Ever wanted to learn how to belly dance? Well now is your chance! UPB will be having belly dancing lessons brought to you by City in Motion.  The event will start at 7pm and will be in room 302 of the Student Union on Sept 12th.
