Dossier Magazine Launch Party – Dec 2

By , November 30, 2010 8:28 am

Dossier Magazine, a creative arts magazine running its second year on campus, is hosting its first ever launch party this Thursday, December 2nd in the UMKC Gallery of Art (Fine Arts Building room 203) from 5pm – 7pm.

The magazine, which publishes the creative works of UMKC students, is hosting the event to celebrate its first issue of the 2010–2011 academic year.  Those who attend the event will be the first to receive Dossier issue 2.1.  The launch will feature an exhibit of student artwork, free snacks and beverages, and DJ Milton Friedman will be serving up his distinct musical offerings.  Corey Light, Editor in Chief, will make brief remarks at 6pm.  This event provides a place to discuss, view, and enjoy the creative content featured in the winter issue.  The gallery exhibition will be open to the public December 2nd  through the 31st.

The founders of Dossier Magazine have fashioned a publication not bound by strict idealism or form, but rather a continually-renewing document that is controlled and influenced by the students who create the content.  All students, regardless of major or discipline, are invited to contribute work for review and publication.  Typical artwork includes–but is not limited to–poetry, photography, graphic design, short fiction, printmaking, tapestries, and photojournalism.  Submissions to the publication are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the academic year.
