Don’t miss your chance for financial aid!

FAFSAYou may have noticed the posters and table tents around campus mentioning the FAFSA and the priority deadline of March 1st.  Curious what it all means?

The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid–this application determines your eligibility for financial aid–and not just federal aid!  Federal aid includes Stafford loans, work study, and Pell Grants (free money!), but the FAFSA is also used to determine eligibility for other aid, such as the UMKC Advantage Grant and other programs.

Click here for more information about the FAFSA and how to apply.  While you can apply for aid throughout the aid year, many aid programs are limited (especially scholarships and grant funds), so submit your FAFSA by UMKC’s priority deadline of March 1st–school code 002518.

In addition, currently enrolled UMKC students may apply for competitive institutional scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic year by completing the competitive scholarship application.  It is also due, along with 2 letters of recommendation, by March 1.  Other opportunities for scholarships may be found within your department or Academic Unit–be sure to check with your adviser early in the term to ensure you apply before the deadlines.
