Chi-Raq showing and film discussion

Chi-RaqTwo showings of the Spike Lee film, Chi-Raq, will take place 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11 at the Student Union Theatre. Filmed in Chicago, this satire centers on the ongoing black-on-black crime in the city.

Kevin Wilmott, KU associate professor of media studies and co-writer and co-executive of the picture, will participate in a panel discussion following the 7 p.m. showing.

Additional panelists are Theresa Torres, associate professor, Latina/Latino Studies Program; Caitlin Horsmon, associate professor, Communications Studies; Cynthia Jones, lecturer, English Language & Literature; and Jacqueline Wood, associate professor, Black Studies Program.

Adrienne Hoard, Ph.D., UMKC professor and director of Black Studies, will moderate.

Free drinks and popcorn provided at the 7 p.m. show.
