Celebrate Charlie “Bird” Parker and Kansas City Jazz
Chuck Haddix will discuss his book, “Bird: The Life and Music of Charlie Parker,” at 6 p.m., Nov. 6, in the Jeannette Nichols Forum of the new Miller Nichols Learning Center.
The program is free, open to the public, and will feature live performances by Bobby Watson and Friends.
UMKC Friends of the Library sponsor this event as the inaugural program in their new portFOLio series.
Haddix is head of the Marr Sound Archives at UMKC Libraries and host of The Fish Fry program on KCUR-FM. The book will be available for sale both before and after the program. Haddix will be available to sign all copies.
