Convocation Highlights and Welcome Week 2011

Welcome to campus!  Fall 2011 promises to be another exciting semester full of academic challenges as well as social activities and personal development opportunities.

New Student Convocation was Sunday, August 21st–where all new students are formally welcomed to their academic careers at UMKC.  Special guest speakers included Chancellor Leo Morton, Provost Gail Hackett, Dr. Joan Gallos, and SGA President Jay Devineni–check out their words of wisdom, which offer helpful advice for all students!

The Office of Student Involvement has many exciting events planned throughout this week and even into next week. So far, we have enjoyed soccer games, UnionFest, Roos Give Back community service day, movies at the Student Union Theatre, and free breakfast among many others.  Check out the Welcome Week website for more information on upcoming activities!

Federal Impact on Student Loans and Pell Grants

Below is an overview of the impact that the Debt Reduction Bill, a federal bill passed by Congress and signed by President Obama last week, will have on Student Aid Funding, including Pell Grants, interest on subsidies for graduate students, and direct loan repayment incentives.
