Resident Plans

  • 19 meals per week with $50 dining dollars per semester – $2,322 semester/$4,644 annual
    • 2 meal exchanges per week (see Meal Exchange section below)
  • Block 320 Plan – 160 meals with $175 dining dollars per semester – $2,209 semester/$4,418 annual

Dining Dollars – additional dining dollars can be purchased throughout the semester from the Card Office. You’ll get an extra 10% in dining dollars when you purchase either $50 or $100.

Commuter Plans – Available to all students not living in the Residence Halls and can be purchased in the Roo Card Office. Students may request a meal plan by sending an email from their UMKC student email account to umkcroocard@umkc.edu. Meal plan charges for approved email requests will be processed to the student’s Pathway account and billed by Cashiers. All commuter plan prices include sales tax. Plans cannot be changed or cancelled after 7 days from purchase. Call (816) 235-6657 if you have questions.

  • 25 Meals – $250.00 plus tax = $272.44
    • 5 meal exchanges (see Meal Exchange section below)
  • 50 Meals – $487.50 plus tax = $531.25
    • 10 meal exchanges (see Meal Exchange section below)

Dining Dollars – additional dining dollars can be purchased throughout the semester from the Card Office. You’ll get an extra 10% in dining dollars when you purchase either $50 or $100.

Faculty/Staff Plans – Available only to UMKC employees with a Faculty/Staff designation on their Roo Card and can be purchased in the Roo Card Office.  Full-time benefit eligible employees or part-time employees not enrolled in a course may purchase a plan. When do meal plans end?
  • Meal plans end on the last day of finals each semester at 5pm. Unused meals do not carry-over to the following semester and are forfeited.
What is a meal from a Meal Plan?
  • A meal represents one visit to any of the six Student Union Foodiverse venues where you will receive an entree, two sides, dessert, and a beverage. If you return to any one of the six venues within the same meal period (breakfast, lunch, dinner), you will be offered a second helping of entree and two sides.
  • You can use a meal exchange at Chick-fil-A and receive one of three meal exchange combos.
  • You can use a meal exchange at Einstein Bros. Bagels and receive one of three meal exchange combos.
  • You can use a meal exchange at Smart Market and receive one meal exchange combo.
What are dining dollars?
  • Dining dollars are a declining balance that can be spent at all UMKC Dining Service locations. Additional dining dollars can be purchased separately in the Card Office.  Unused dining dollars from the fall semester will roll-over to the spring semester if a meal plan is purchased for the spring semester.  All remaining dining dollars at the end of the spring semester will be forfeited.
What is a meal plan week?
  • A weekly meal plan resets your meals every Monday morning and unused meals do not carry over to the following week.  Once all meals are used in a given week, additional visits to the Foodiverse or retail venues that take meal exchanges are paid by dining dollars.
How/Where do I find out how many meals and/or dining dollars I have left on my plan?
Can I cancel my meal plan and receive a refund?
  • If a residential student cancels their housing contract, a pro-rated refund may be available.
  • If a commuter student, faculty or staff cancel a meal plan, no refunds are issued and unused meals cannot be transferred to another person.
Can I provide a meal or dining dollars to another student or family member?
  • Yes, but you must be present at the dining location to use your student Roo card. Do not allow anyone to use your Roo card.
