Arts Entrepreneurship

Connecting Artists and Entrepreneurs

Arts Entrepreneurship helps bring creativity and business together in Kansas City’s vibrant arts community. Many art students aspire to start their own business or become freelancers. In the program they gain professional skills and confidence through co-curricular programs and collaborations with Kansas City organizations. They are also prepared to be leaders in enterprises like arts not-for-profits and other creative fields.

Institutional partnerships

Recognizing the need and demand for entrepreneurship and business skills in the 21st-century artist, the Regnier Institute has partnered with arts education institutions like the UMKC Conservatory and the Kansas City Art Institute to develop business and entrepreneurship education programs specifically for students in the arts.

Current Programs

The UMKC Conservatory and the Bloch School of Management are partnering to offer the Arts Entrepreneurship Certificate Program designed to help undergraduate students align their artistry, passion, and vision to create opportunities in the arts. The certificate program consists of four, three-credit courses delivered entirely online for convenience and flexibility. The courses focus on entrepreneurship skills and methods and are relevant to any industry or organization.

Partnership with Kansas City Arts Institute

Through an innovative collaboration, The Regnier Institute and the Bloch School of Management partner with Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) to provide a minor in entrepreneurial studies for KCAI students. The classes are taught on the KCAI campus by faculty from UMKC providing students with unrivaled access to entrepreneurial courses taught by experts in the field.
