Women-led startups talk KC’s entrepreneurial scene

A group of passionate go-getters filled The Nerdery on Thursday evening to celebrate female entrepreneurship and Global Entrepreneurship Week. For me, it was a chance to attend an Athena League event for the first time, and it was only fitting that it happened to be Women in Entrepreneurship Day.

Athena League, which hosts monthly events and educational programs, is an organization that shines a spotlight on female entrepreneurship. Thursday’s event highlighted the female leaders of three startups that won a LaunchKC $50,000 grant earlier this year. The panel featured: Kris Adair, co-founder of artificial intelligence startup Mycroft A.I.; Kacie Saunders, chief marketing officer and co-owner of fitness startup FEWDM; and Gretchen Henry, founder and CEO of ag tech startup ConsultUS Technology.
