UMKC V-Day Time Again

Benefit performance to end violence takes place March 4

The University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Violence Prevention and Response project will present its 2014 production of The Vagina Monologues on Tuesday, March 4.

The UMKC V-Day benefit performances began in 2005, and, proceeds go toward efforts to end violence against women and girls. At the end of 2013, more than 5,800 V-Day productions and other related works worldwide have taken place, raising over $100 million to advocate for, as well as educate about, the issue of violence against women and girls.

“‘The Vagina Monologues’ was first performed off-Broadway by Eve Ensler in 1996. Since 2005, UMKC’s Women’s Center is proud to have been a part of the V-Day movement,” said Michelle Kroner, UMKC Victim Services Adjudication Advisor. “With an energetic and diverse cast from UMKC, as well as Kansas City community, UMKC’s benefit performance of the Vagina Monologues is a true theatrical gem. Join us for the March 4, as we once again showcase this amazing play.”

Doors open at 7 p.m., and the performance starts at 7:30 p.m. at the UMKC Student Union Theatre, 5100 Cherry St. The cost is $10 for students and $20 for non-students in advance; $15 for students and $25 for non-students at the door.
