UMKC to host Local Food Fairs at Hospital Hill and Volker Campuses this week

Food Fair will showcase local and organic food producers, vendors and restaurants

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In recognition of Earth Day 2011 and as part of the University’s ongoing commitment to promote sustainability and environmental awareness, UMKC will host two Local Food Fairs on campus this week. The first Food Fair will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Wednesday April 20, 2011 at the UMKC Health Sciences Campus at Hospital Hill. The second event will be held on Earth Day, Friday April 22, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Quad on the Volker Campus.

The Food Fairs will showcase local and organic food producers, restaurants and student artists and musicians. Students, faculty, staff and the community will be able to sample and purchase goods as well as receive education from local producers and vendors about their products. Area restaurants that use locally and organically produced goods also will be part of the event. Vendors and producers currently scheduled to attend include:
