Seven outstanding high school students receive top scholarship

The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is pleased to announce the incoming class of UMKC Trustees’ Scholars. Each year, UMKC names a select group of academically gifted and accomplished entering freshmen as Trustees’ Scholars. The UMKC Trustees created the scholarship program to support the University in attracting the best and the brightest students to UMKC.

Each Trustees’ Scholar receives an aid package valued at more than $60,000 over four years. For the first two years, the package covers educational fees and room and board. In the third and fourth years, the package provides educational fees and $2,000 for room and board, as well as opportunities to network and find internships or jobs through the Trustees and their connections in the community. Each Trustees’ Scholar also receives $500 toward books each year.

To qualify for the Trustees’ Scholars Program, students must meet at least two of the following three criteria: a minimum ACT Composite score of 30, rank in the top five percent of the graduating class, or have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or more in a 17-class core curriculum. Trustees’ Scholars must enroll full time, be seeking an undergraduate degree and commit to living on campus for the first two years.
