UMKC Innovation Center hosts first-ever KCSourceLink ‘Battle of the Brands’

Kansas City-area companies compete for Top Brand title

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – It’s March tournament time and the competition is heating up as we get closer and closer to crowning a champion in the first-ever KCSourceLink “Battle of the Brands.” Hosted by the University of Missouri-Kansas City Innovation Center to help shine the spotlight on the legacy and future of entrepreneurship in Kansas City, the contest began earlier this month with a field of 64 companies representing some of the Kansas City area’s most iconic entrepreneurial brands.

To begin the competition, companies were randomly paired against each other in a tournament style bracket. For each round, voters are encouraged to visit the bracket page during specific time windows to vote for their favorite companies and move them into the next round. The field is currently down to the “Epic 8” round; from March 22-26, voting will be open to see which companies will advance to the next round.

Following are the companies battling it out in the “Epic 8” round:*

  • Annedore’s Fine Chocolates
  • B.B.’s Lawnside BBQ
  • Rainy Day Books
  • Boulevard Brewing Co.
  • Shatto Milk
  • Spin Pizza
  • Gates BBQ
  • Indigo Wild

*Voting opens at noon on March 22 and continues through March 26.

Upcoming Voting Schedule:
