UMKC is the team’s only university partner

Sporting KC fans have a reason to keep cheering. This past weekend, the team secured a spot at the MLS Cup being held in Kansas City Dec. 7.

In a recent segment of KCUR’s Up to Date, Sports Reporter Greg Echlin gave a preview of the upcoming game.

The MLS Cup will mark a high point in the season-long partnership between Sporting KC and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The partnership has been a natural fit for both organizations. Sporting KC is a valued, positive force for Kansas City, just as UMKC has been for 80 years. In late October, Sporting KC hosted UMKC Night at Sporting KC. Busloads of students and countless alumni packed Sporting Park.  They were just a portion of the spectators who enjoyed the more than 10,000 giveaway items the university provided.
