Smart Country: Like its city slicker counterpart, ag tech shows promise

Kansas City is interconnecting its Downtown with sensors and kiosks in the quest to become a “smart city.” But the region’s farm fields and ranches are getting smarter, too. Companies involved in collecting a bounty of data, analyzing it and even crowdsourcing it are giving farmers access to an entirely new toolbox.

Several Kansas City-area companies are tapping into this growing market, working to help farmers track crop yields or to produce healthier, more productive livestock.
