This week, the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is recognizing alumni of merit from the university’s 12 schools, and a select group of alumni whose inspirational leadership qualifies them for one of four campus-wide honors.
The four recipients of the special awards are:
Alvin Brooks, College of Arts and Sciences, Alumnus of the Year
Margaret Evans, College of Arts and Sciences and the Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration, Defying the Odds
Reaner Shannon, School of Education, Bill French Alumni Service Award
Tracy Stevens, School of Medicine, Spotlight Award
The Alumni Achievement Award program honors UMKC graduates for their professional achievements and outstanding community service. The other 12 award winners and their schools are:

A key event of the celebration will be a luncheon at Pierson Auditorium, highlighting the honorees’ stories and accomplishments.
