MyWorldWall Will Connect People Around the Globe

International Social Media Platform Allows Sharing of Cultures

For an immigrant, adjusting to life in America can be challenging, and Tomveyi Bidamon had some negative encounters. Fortunately, he was able to use those experiences to create a business venture that may benefit people in different cultures around the globe.

Bidamon came to the United States in 2007 from Togo, West Africa to attend Iowa Western Community College. He identified a problem and a solution based on his personal experiences and set out to make his idea a reality.

In January, Bidamon enrolled in the Regnier Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation E-Scholars program at the Henry W. Bloch School of Management. Having earlier accepted a position at Russell Stover in Kansas City, Bidamon knew Bloch School was the direction for his venture.

“I enrolled in the program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City to purposely improve my entrepreneurial skills and to launch a successful project that could impact millions of lives here in the U.S. and around the world,” said Bidamon, who also is working on a bachelor’s degree in business at Excelsior College.

The project is MyWorldWall, an international cultural exchange social media platform geared at helping people from diverse nations share their cultures and backgrounds and learn about others’ in the process.

“I want to connect people – people of areas around the world and varied backgrounds and, hopefully, lessen the challenging experiences they encounter,” said Bidamon. “To get the word out about the MyWorldWall project, I would love to meet with international students, members of cultural associations in other countries, non-profit organizations and social media groups.”

Togo is a French-speaking country where they experience summer much of the year. Bidamon likes singing, especially Christian songs, listening to music and attending jazz clubs.

Bidamon and his team currently are in the web and app development phase, testing the website and gathering input from test users. As part of his plan to connect people around the world, individuals from Malawi, India and U.S. are assisting Bidamon in the development of the wall.

He hopes to fund the project through four possible ways 1) pitch his idea to friends and family; 2) join a startup incubator or accelerator; 2) negotiate an advance from a strategic partner or customer or 4) apply to local angel investor groups.

Bidamon plans to go public with MyWorldWall by the end of 2016, at which time he will begin working on his next venture. “I will reveal details later,” said Bidamon.
