Lincoln College Prep Academy Wind Ensemble will present music from its performance at the Great Wall of China
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A special memorial concert and celebration will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 1 at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Pierson Auditorium to recognize the numerous contributions made by Thomas Talbott to Kansas City, UMKC, students and the community.
The music for the concert will be performed by the Lincoln College Preparatory Academy Wind Ensemble, which recently returned from China where they performed on the Great Wall of China in Bejing and other cities in the country.
The concert is free; however, reservations are required by calling 816-235-6060. Voluntary donations may be given in memory of Talbott to The Talbott Scholarship & Leadership Award Fund; The Lincoln College Preparatory Academy Band Boosters; or a charity of your choice.
Talbott was a UMKC alumnus, having received his B.A. in economics from the College of Arts and Sciences and M.B.A. from The Bloch School of Management. In 1985, he received a Distinguished Alumnus award from the Bloch School. Also, his wife, Dr. Linda Hood Talbott, is an alumna of the University and received the Alumna of the Year award in 1990.
Tom was an executive with Mobil Oil Corporation; president and chief operating officer of The C. J. Patterson Company; and partner with Linda in Talbott & Associates – a philanthropic management consulting practice – and The Center for Philanthropic Leadership – their leadership development firm. Tom died in Dec. 2010.
