A recent episode of KCPT’s “The Local Show” highlighted the progress that has been made since the Greater Kansas City Area Chamber of Commerce unveiled their list of the “Big Five Ideas for Kansas City.”
One of those ideas would heighten the prominence of the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s arts programs by relocating them into the heart of Kansas City. A Downtown Arts Campus would give UMKC’s growing programs more appropriate, modern space; immerse students in the artistic community; boost economic development opportunities in the urban core; and create much-needed growth space for the sciences and other non-arts programs on the Volker campus
Conservatory of Music and Dance Dean Peter Witte spoke about the proposed Downtown Arts Campus, and discussed the merits of the campus’ three proposed sites.
