The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Health Sciences Library recently received an Outstanding Academic Health Science Library Award from the Health Sciences Library Network of Kansas City (HSLNKC). HSLNKC will present the award at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at the UMKC Diastole Scholar’s Center‘s Kiva Room, 2501 Holmes St.
The library is a second-time winner of this award, having also received it in 2005. The Outstanding Academic Health Science Library Award honors an academic health sciences library that has made special contributions in professional leadership, innovative projects and organizational efficiency. The award also recognizes the UMKC Health Science Library’s participation in HSLNKC and its exceptional service to a diverse clientele of UMKC students, faculty, staff, distance learners and clientele from area hospitals.
Located at the UMKC School of Medicine, 2411 Holmes St., the Health Sciences Library supports the teaching and research missions of the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy. The Health Sciences Library provides UMKC residents and all UMKC faculty, staff and students with access to a wide range of biomedical databases and peer-reviewed biomedical journals.
“It is great that the Health Sciences Library is being honored this way,” said Peggy Mullaly-Quijas, director of the Health Sciences Library. “While it is challenging to serve UMKC health professional students and practitioners from all parts of Missouri, it is nice to know the information services we provide our clients is recognized as excellent.”

Our libraries are a resource not only for UMKC, but for the entire Kansas City community, as well.”
