Bloch School hosts 26th Annual Dinner and Awards Celebration
In celebration of the 26th Annual Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, the Henry W. Bloch School of Management’s Council for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation recognized its 2011 Honorees before a record crowd. The 2011 awardees are:
- International Entrepreneur of the Year – Meg Whitman, former president and CEO of eBay
- Regional Entrepreneurs of the Year – Bonnie Kelly, Jerry Kelly and Teresa Walsh, co-founders, Silpada Designs Jewelry
- Marion and John Kreamer Award for Entrepreneurship in Volunteer Community Service – Julia Irene Kauffman, chairman and CEO, Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation, and chairman, Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts
Also announced was the student entrepreneur of the year – Shane Spencer – for his student venture, Green REIT – a real estate investment trust with assets based in renewable energy and green technology.
The Bloch School at UMKC, through its Council for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, has celebrated international and local entrepreneurship since 1985 through its annual Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Dinner. This event celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit by honoring continued innovative and creative accomplishments. Proceeds from the dinner benefit the Bloch School’s Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, one of Kansas City’s primary resources for educating and creating the next generation of entrepreneurs.
