Student Research Opportunities

MIDE is always interested in hearing from motivated students seeking to participate in scientific research. We work on a wide variety of problems, which include elements from physics, engineering, mathematics, materials science, computer programming and more.

Undergraduate Research

Are you an undergraduate looking for an opportunity to enhance your education in a STEM-related discipline? MIDE administers a variety of internships and research initiatives that allow you to conduct real-world research while networking with mentors and fellow students. Undergraduate research opportunities can include paid or unpaid internships, research for course credit in the form of 499 courses, work study placement, or as part of the UMKC SEARCH or SUROP undergraduate research programs.

Graduate Research

If you are a graduate student ready to discover, invent, and find solutions, MIDE has an opportunity for you to be inspired and develop your skillset as an instructor, researcher, collaborator and leader. Positions are also available for graduate students desiring to complete a master’s degree or doctoral research through UMKC’s PhD program.
