Get Involved! How to Build Connections in the Kansas City Community

Looking for ways to get involved in the Kansas City community?  While legal internships and externships are critical to your professional development, it is also extremely beneficial to build your network within the Kansas City community at large.

UMKC’s Office of Community and Public Affairs partners with more than 50 local organizations focusing on economic development, education, health, and progress within our neighborhoods.  There are numerous organizations that are looking for volunteers right now!  Visit Serve 2 Learn for more information on those opportunities.  You can also register on Serve 2 Learn’s site, and UMKC’s Service-Learning Program will keep you informed of upcoming service opportunities or events and help you determine which placement for service will best fit your needs.

For those of you who may be interested in a much more involved commitment to a specific nonprofit organization, visit the Henry W. Bloch School of Management Board Bank.  The Board Bank matches Kansas City nonprofits that seek talented new board members with community leaders eager to serve their community.  If you are looking for a leadership position within an organization you are passionate about, visit the Board Bank today for information about vacant Board memberships within the Kansas City community.
