May 4: Here to THRIVE: Six Steps to Take Charge of Your Career Progression

Learn how to thrive at UMKC with this six-step program focusing on career progression. You will learn how to evaluate where you are, decide where you want to go, and discover ways to help get you there over the course of this training. Prepare to come away with a toolbox full of resources and strategies to kick start your career progression goals. This training will be led by Emma Satterfield, Senior HR Specialist in Compensation & Classification at UMKC. Register for a session here.

Week of May 17: UM System Staff Development Week

2022 semi-annual, virtual training conference sponsored by UM System’s Office of Human Resources on May 17, 18, & 19. This is a professional and personal development opportunity with a wide range of sessions with topics like “Principles and Techniques of Effective Communication” or “Are Your Sleep Habits Impacting Your Health?”.

Supervisor Development Series

The Supervisor Development Series hosted by UM System HR is designed for newly hired or promoted supervisors who manage staff. By participating in this program, supervisors and managers will be equipped with the fundamental skills necessary to be an effective and successful manager of talent. The Series on Leadership Essentials (SOLE)

The Series on Leadership Essentials (SOLE) is dedicated to helping you lead in your role, and is facilitated by the University of Missouri System Human Resources Learning & Organizational Development team. This program focuses on developing leaders in the areas of communication, engagement, giving and receiving feedback, and navigating change. The next four-session series will begin this summer and will include participants from all campuses.

Engagement Groups

Join an engagement group to connect with other employees across campus. If you have an idea for an engagement group, let us know by emailing UMKCHR@umkc.edu.

Book Club

We are currently working on an Employee Book Club to start in May. Information on how to sign up coming soon!

Real Appeal Group

Employees who are enrolled in Medical Benefits through the University have the opportunity to join a Real Appeal Group. Real Appeal is a free weight loss program provided by United Heathcare through Rally Coach. This group will be facilitated by Secily Adams, UM Systems Heath Engagement Coordinator.
