KCPDC—Local Professional Development Opportunities for Faculty and Staff

UMKC has rejoined the Kansas City Professional Development Council (KCPDC) for 2018-19. As a member school, our faculty and staff can attend workshops and conferences at no cost to your department. Advanced registration is required and is through the UMKC Human Resources Office (link below).

KCPDC is a consortium of ten area colleges and universities that pool funds to provide a variety of programs for faculty and staff:

  • Professional Development Conference
  • Supervisor Development Program (certificate)
  • Special Topic Workshops (standalone workshops on a variety of topics)
  • Enhancing Teaching and Learning Conference
  • Faculty Development Program-new Faculty Academy format (certificate)

The Faculty Academy provides a new, single day format for the core program content. Fundamentals of Teaching Excellence is held twice during the year and includes five faculty-facilitated modules on teaching and learning. An annual Advanced Academy course and Enhancing Teaching and Learning Conference round out this program.

The fall 2018 date is September 22 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Johnson County Community College. Program information is at http://www.kcpdc.org/faculty-development-program.

The Supervisor Development Program certificate includes seven core courses and a KCPDC ‘elective.’ This is a great opportunity to learn and network with higher education colleagues. The first course in the series is Motivating Employees on September 11 from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Baker University in Overland Park. Program details are at http://www.kcpdc.org/supervisory-development-program.

Seating is limited and advanced registration is required. CLICK HERE to register on myLearn. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Susi Mickey at mickeysu@umkc.edu.
