“Did You Know? Your Role as a Mandated Reporter”

As an employee of UMKC, your mandated reporting requirements were expanded as of August 14, 2020, and in addition to all instances of sexual misconduct, you are required to report all mistreatment involving a student, employee, visitor, or volunteer that may be related to race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, disability, and protected veteran status to the Office of Affirmative Action. You should also consult OAA when you become aware of an employee who may need accommodations for a medical condition, as well as any student or employee who may need accommodations for pregnancy or related conditions or a religious purpose. Exceptions to mandated reporting are rare; if you have been operating as confidential in the past, please contact OAA to determine how this policy update may apply to you. To make a report, we encourage the use of our online reporting form, or you may reach our on-call team member at x1771 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For more information on your obligations as a Mandated Reporter, we encourage you to attend an upcoming 50-minute interactive training session held via Zoom:
