24/7 Emotional Support Line

United Healthcare has gathered several resources to support your personal well being during the current health crisis. These resources include a free emotional support helpline from Optum Health, which can be accessed 24/7. Additional information can be found on the United Healthcare website.

Saint Luke’s LIFEWISE EAP

Participants will receive a link to participate online on WebEx. You will provide your Employee ID for your wellness points. The number is on your insurance card.

EAP Services Available to All Employees

At Human Resources, we realize that this can be a stressful time of year for many employees. As an employee at UMKC, your personal and professional well-being is a priority. There is no better time for a reminder that the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to help with personal, family, relationship, and financial difficulties.

Through our continued partnership with Saint Luke’s Health System, Human Resources and UM Total Rewards offers an EAP service to all faculty, staff, and dependents. Program benefits include access to professional counselors trained to assist with stress, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, work concerns, financial issues, and family or relationship difficulties.

Employees can receive up to three phone or in-person counseling sessions for any personal issue. EAP also provides access to more than 5,000 online articles and 500 videos about health topics. In addition, a monthly webinar series is also available that has recently covered topics such as care for aging loved ones, finances, nutrition, health, and an upcoming Vision Board webinar in January.

Services are provided through five offices located across the Kansas City area, as well as more than 40,000 network providers nationwide. Evening appointments are available, and emergencies are responded to 24/7. EAP counselors can also assist in referral for on-going care.

The UM System’s Total Rewards, UMKC Human Resources, and Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City have come together to provide monthly online Employee Assistance Program seminars to equip you with skills to help you excel and grow in your professional or personal life. On January 22, 2020 the topic for the EAP Online Seminar Series is Enhancing Your Personal Safety

Description: Being aware of personal safety is an important part of our survival. Our personal safety can be threatened in various ways, such as physically or financially. This training will present the four pillars of personal safety: awareness, knowledge, intuition/instincts, and strategy.

The monthly webinars are approximately an hour in length and are conducted live at 12pm and 3pm on the scheduled day, but, even if you are unable to view the webinars live you can listen to the recordings at a later date.
