Take Your Child to Work Day

UMKC Human Resources, in conjunction with Staff Council, will be hosting a university-wide Take Your Child to Work Day. National Take Your Child to Work Day takes place on the fourth Thursday of April every year, and this year it falls on Thursday, April 27th. UMKC happily invites you and your children to help us celebrate this occasion.

Throughout the day on Thursday, April 27th, HR and Staff Council have organized an array of events and activities with many departments across campus. Activities ranging from arts & crafts to games, sports, and tours are currently scheduled. Children will also get to participate in a special meet and greet with UMKC’s beloved mascot, Kasey the Kangaroo.

This day will also be a great opportunity for children who are considering becoming a UMKC Roo in their futures. They can spend the day on our beautiful campus and get to know more about the educational opportunities and programs offered here at UMKC through an Admissions Presentation.

The shuttle will be available to transport employees and their children to different event locations throughout the day, free of charge. Click here to view the UMKC shuttle schedule.

Children of all ages are welcome to attend this event. Although we encourage everyone to participate in Take Your Child to Work Day, please seek approval from your supervisor to ensure departmental guidelines are followed and proper coverage is met.

All employees who are planning to bring their children to work on April 27, 2017, will need to register their children by completing a signed Information and Consent Form by Monday, April 24, 2017. The form requires a supervisor signature along with additional information about your child (name, age, emergency contact, etc.). All completed forms will be emailed to Tyler Robertson in Human Resources at robertsontb@umkc.edu. Please note that all children participating in Take Your Child to Work Day must be supervised by their parents at all times throughout the day.

Click here to access the information and consent form.

View the Schedule of Events for the day here. If you have any questions, please view the Frequently Asked Questions page.

Please contact Tyler Robertson in Human Resources at robertsontb@umkc.edu if you have any additional questions or concerns.
