2020 Mandatory and Recommended Trainings

This year in addition to our standard mandatory compliance trainings, there are some new required and recommended trainings. Please review the list below and make sure you are setting aside time to complete your trainings.

UM System Mandatory Compliance Trainings

The university is committed to providing a safe place to learn and work. To that end, all faculty, staff, and student employees, as well as those with courtesy appointments are required to complete mandatory compliance trainings annually.  All courses are online in myLearn and the courses you are required to take will be listed on your myLearn Learning Plan. Annual compliance training requirements include, but are not limited to:

Return to Campus | approx. 15 minutes

Due: NOW

This training will provide you with guidelines for returning to in-person work. As a system, we must work together to reduce the COVID-19 risk to our university community. This training is required whether you are working on campus or remote.

Building a Foundation: Discrimination Prevention and Title IX | approx. 40 minutes

Due: December 22, 2020

The UM System has an ongoing commitment to support and promote inclusion, respect and diversity. This module will cover topics related to discrimination, harassment and new and updated University policies relating to Title IX.

UM System Campus Emergency Alert Training | approx. 15 minutes

Due: December 22, 2020

In order to better protect and empower our community, this course shares information on how the Emergency Alert System works on campus and how you can assess and respond to emergency situations.

Global Cybersecurity Basics | approx. 15 minutes

Due: December 22, 2020

So much of what we do involves technology. This training is designed to help you meet your information security obligations to protect university information assets and IT systems.

UMKC Trainings 

Additionally, UMKC has additional required and recommended trainings for all employees. Please review the list below and be sure to sign up in myLearn to attend.

Unconscious Bias, Microaggressions, and What to Do About Them | approx. 75 minutes

This year UMKC launched this new course that will help us all cultivate a deeper understanding of bias, identify microaggressions, and learn ways to respond when we see them in ourselves and others.

This 75-minute online course, is a required training for all benefit-eligible faculty and staff who are non-supervisors*. Sessions are scheduled through the end of the fall term. CLICK to enroll in myLearn.

*A training for supervisors will be available at a later date.

Mandated Reporting for Employees | approx. 60 minutes

Mandatory reporting requirements for non-confidential employees at UMKC have been expanded as of August 14, 2020.  This interactive Zoom session is recommended for all faculty and staff and will provide employees a more in-depth review of UMKC’s policy related to mandated reporting of all matters related to discrimination and harassment.  Enroll in myLearn.
