Residential Life Coordinator
The full-time, live-in Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) manages the administrative components of a hall or apartment complex. In addition to supervising student staff, they are responsible for programming implementation, crisis management, and adjudication for policy violations. Any openings for this bachelor’s-required, master’s-preferred position will be posted through UMKC’s HR website.
The Resident Assistant (RA) is a live-in student staff member who has administrative and programming responsibility for a wing or building section of students. After an extensive training process, the RAs are expected to handle issues pertaining to crisis management, confrontation, mediation and general student well-being. Any openings for this position will be posted throughout campus, on our website, other social media outlets, and Handshake. The Academic Assistant (AA) is a live-in paraprofessional who has administrative and programming responsibility for the Honors Living Learning Community (LLC). The Academic Assistant reports directly to the Residential Life Coordinator, but has responsibilities for working with the Assistant Residential Life Coordinator and Departmental Liaison for specific parts of their position (LLC programming, educational and wellness functions, and other activities). The expected average time commitment for the position is 20 hours per week. Please see the position description for more information.
The Desk Manager (DM) is a student staff position within Oak Street Hall and Johnson Hall. The DM hires, trains and supervises desk assistants and is responsible for the overall management of the front desk. The DM reports directly to the Residential Life Coordinator of the building; however, the DM also has responsibilities for working with the Assistant Residential Life Coordinator. The Office Assistant (OA) position is a student staff position within Oak Street Hall. The OA resolves the needs of any faculty/staff/student/guest using knowledge of campus resources, aids in clerical work and completes other duties as assigned. The Desk Attendant (DA) is responsible for the administration of information from the front desk of the residential halls and apartments. The DA provides assistance by answering questions, checking out equipment, and performing mail service among other assigned tasks. Excellent customer service skills are a must.
