The Missouri History Museum is accepting applications from graduate students and recent graduates who are interested in a paid internship with our Exhibitions and Research division. This position will report to the director of exhibitions and research.

The intern will assist in creating a traveling exhibit based on the work of Colin Gordon. Gordon’s book, “Mapping Decline: St. Louis and the Fate of the American City,” is an important examination of racial segregation in St. Louis. We are partnering with Gordon and the Missouri Humanities Council to create a traveling exhibit that will appear throughout the state over the next few years.
The intern’s responsibilities will include:

• Developing a thematic framework for the exhibit.
• Researching, writing, editing, and fact checking labels.
• Working with outside media developers to create associated media elements.
• Obtaining photos and other illustrations that can be used in the design of the exhibit.
• Working with an outside designer to develop the look of the exhibit.

The desired intern will have a flexible schedule with the ability to work a minimum of 20 hours a week in June, July, and August.

Preferred candidates will have a proven record of strong research and writing skills. This can be shown through published essays or articles, but can also be shown through classwork.
